First SAL posting…

So, last month, I decided to join a SAL group (Stitch Along) of cross stitchers. I did so thinking that it would be a great way for me to push myself to work on, and hopefully finish some projects. I tend to float from one thing to the next when I’m not working on an actual order. Those always come first.

Anyway, after I finished my Fairy, I decided to do something small that I could finish quickly. Not sure how quickly I’m finishing it, but since I’m also working on A Little Something…. I don’t think it’s going too slowly.

Here is what I’ve got so far…

I actually bought this kit in clearance for just a couple bucks, so I thought why not? I don’t care for the words or the little bee in the corner. So I’m making that up as I go and leaving it out. The kit was also missing some floss, so it’s a good thing that I have a fully stocked selection of all the dmc colors.

Thanks for stopping by, and thank you to the members of the SAL who have given me a warm welcome to your group. Check out what everyone else has going on in their corner of the world by clicking on their names below.

  1. Heidi, Welcome! That is a sweet little piece you are working on. I have found this group extremely helpful and encouraging, and hope you do as well. Wishing you many completed UFO’s in the next year!

    1. A few years ago, I used part of my tax return to purchase everything I didn’t already have. This way, anytime I want to start something new, I don’t have to wait until I have extra money or a chance to go to the store. Once I finish a skein, I put it on a list to replace next time I’m at the store. Much cheaper to buy one or two as I run out. Instead of 20-30 for a project. I had a friend call me a crafting survivalist, as I have stuff to do pretty much any kind of project you’d want to do. I like to be prepared!

  2. Welcome Heidi! What a great project to finish! While I like bees, I can see why you would leave it out. It does seem more cartoonish than the roses, lol. I think the roses by themselves will be lovely or do you plan on putting different words? Looking forward to seeing your progress 🙂

  3. Welcome to the SAL Heidi. I also have a problem staying on one project for very long as you will soon see. Hope you manage to finish something now that you have joined us.

  4. Hi there, and welcome! The lovely thing about this SAL is that there really aren’t any rules about what you stitch and how you stitch it, so changing things as you go along is just fine! I hope you enjoy having lots of supportive comments on your work, because that’s another thing you get from the group. Very pretty roses, and look forward to seeing your progress 🙂

  6. Welcome to the group! It looks like you’ve made a healthy start on this kit. I hardly ever leave a design just the way it is when I buy something ready-made. It will be fun to see what you end up doing with this!

  8. You are well into this project so hopefully it will not take you long before you have another finish. I joined the group as I have several UFO’s in my stash and needed some encouragement to finish them – I get so easily tempted to open something new and leave the ufo’s where they are. The group have been so helpful and encouraging.
