As promised, here is my next book review…
I’ll admit, I happen to love Tom Hanks as an actor, so when I saw that he was publishing a collection of short fiction, I was in. Personally I have my own obsession with typewriters, so I was very excited to flip through this book and see all the great photography of these great machines. Mr. Hanks manages to insert at least a fleeting comment about a typewriter in each one of his stories.
As a whole, I think this is a very nice offering of stories. Obviously the thread that holds them together is the general use of typewriters throughout the book. There are also a few stories that connect with the use of the same chsracters.
If you don’t like a bit of sci-fi, you might not appreciate some of the stories in this collection. Many are nice quasi meaningful short stories that many people will relate to, however, a few venture off into the unbelievable/sci-fi realm.
Personally, I enjoyed all of them, some more than others, but all were well written. I definitely would recommend this to other readers, actually my mom has my copy right now.
Finsl verdict from me? Well done Mr. Hanks.
