SAL #34

Another 3 weeks. And another vacation. It was more of a staycation this time, however since I’m always on the road, it was kind of nice to be in one place for awhile. (No, I still don’t have a place, I stayed with family.) So, I must have gotten really far on my butterflies right? Haha, not really. I did a little bit, but barely enough to show. I did however, finish a quilt top that has taken me almost 2 years going from hotel to hotel. So, anyway, this is where I was last time… And this is where … Continue reading SAL #34

Using the stash…

I’ve kind of been on a misson to use up some of my stash of fabric. I have plenty to choose from, that is for certain. As it is with most people who do any kind of crafts, one always has more than they actually need.  So, with this thought in mind, I have decided to dive in to my stash, and actually use some of it (novel idea, believe me, I know). First, I made, A Little Something.  Then I made a Christmas quilt. This time I decided to use a couple packs of charms that have been sitting … Continue reading Using the stash…

Ouch! That hurt…

I did something that I’ve never done before today, and hopefully won’t be doing again. I cut the side of my finger while cutting fabric with a rotary cutter.  OUCH! Now, I’ve been close a few times and nipped my finger nail, but never my actual finger.  It’s not really as bad as it sounds. Don’t get me wrong, it took a nice chunk out of my finger, but Neosporin and a band-aid is really all I needed. (After a few choice words of course.) Moral of the story? Pay attention when you’re using any cutting device! Even if you’ve … Continue reading Ouch! That hurt…

Not so little anymore…

So, I’ve been sharing the progress on my latest quilt. Well, it has definitely taken me longer to finish than I had expected. So much so, that instead of being a quilt for me, it is now going to be the quilt that I’m going to be giving to my neice for her 16th birthday.  Because I ran out of time to make a different one for her. As it is, it is going to be a little late for her birthday. But she’ll have it by Christmas easily. Tomorrow I will be taking it to my favorite long arm … Continue reading Not so little anymore…

A little something more…

Okay, so a few weeks back I told you about a project that I’m working on involving lots of little bitty squares. Well, I’m not done with it yet, but its coming along pretty well. So to recap, I was showing you 1 inch squares sewn into little nine patches. When I finally finished all of those, this is what it looked like… A whole shoebox full of mouse quilts. (I hang on to shoeboxes because they make great containers for projects in the works.) So after that, they became bigger nine patches… And then even bigger ones.  So, there … Continue reading A little something more…

New Purchase…

So, I’ve been thinking about getting a small sewing machine to use as a “back-up”, you know, when I take my big one in for service… or because I’m too lazy to move one project to work on another. Well, today I finally bought one. For  $12. Yep, you read that right. It was on clearance at Michaels. So I figured I’d give it a try, because why not? So of course when I got home I had to set it up and give it a go. I must say, I’m pleasantly surprised at how nicely it stitches. This little girl … Continue reading New Purchase…
