Other things that I do…

Besides making quilts, I also do various other things with my time. I work a salary job and in my free time I try to keep up with quilt orders, many different crafty projects and writing. I’ll be completely honest, I’ve been slacking on the writting. I lost steam. After releasing these, part one and two of a trilogy, I have been having a hard time finishing the last book. I have about half of it written. So don’t get me wrong, there is some forward motion. Just not enough. My New Year’s resolution is to finish book 3 this … Continue reading Other things that I do…

Some of the quilts I’ve made…

Before we start on a new quilt top, I thought I’d take a moment to share a few images of quilts that I have done. This is only a handful of ones that I  have made. Most of my quilts have been sold, donated to charitable organizations for fund raising, or given as gifts. Some I unfortunately forgot to take pictures of, which I highly recommend by the way. It’s good to know what you’ve done, what came out well and what you will never do again! Let’s start with some small stuff… Okay, some bigger things, wall hangings to … Continue reading Some of the quilts I’ve made…

Finishing up our quilt top…

Alright, now that you have sewn together each row, it’s time to press again.  Try to press your new seams so that they will lay opposite each other when you pin them together. If you wish, place another pin at each end. Chain stitch these together. Now that you have finished sewing these strips onto your block, it’s time to press again. Again, press your seam toward the darker fabric. Now that your … Continue reading Let’s continue…

Let’s start a quilt…

This is what our block will look like. I am using 2 packs of Candies. (84 2 1/2″ squares) I decided to use a winter collection called Snowman Gatherings II. It has a lot of blues and taupe colors so I thought a nice crisp white would set it off nicely. I am using 2 yards of the white fabric (or at least that is how much I bought). I cut 84 pieces of 1 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ and 84 pieces of 3 1/2″ x 1 1/2″. Now it’s time to start sewing. I did not need to pin … Continue reading Let’s start a quilt…
